SPECIAL NOTICE ABOUT CHOOSING THE RIGHT SIZE IN BOOTS Some people have a high instep - that is, the top of the foot, between the ankle and the toes, is a bit higher than on other people. They often only find this out when they find that boots in the same size as their shoes are too tight, so they learn to order a half size bigger in boots. Another reason people often choose to order a half size bigger in boots is that they prefer to wear thicker tights, or socks, inside their boots.
